David Artell says his players are raring to go as we get set for the EFL kick-off tomorrow. Crewe welcome promotion favourites Mansfield Town to the Alexandra Stadium and Artell feels it is a great one to start with in front of our home support.
The Crewe Alexandra boss has every faith in his players having a successful season and he knows that beating Steve Evans’ favourites will only increase the optimism flowing through the squad.
Artell told crewealex.net: “We are ready to go. We have got to be and we are all looking forward to it. I know the players are. They have trained really well this week.
“I think it is a great one to start with. Mansfield have spent a lot of money and have bought a lot of players in. Steve (Evans) probably has the luxury of being able to select two teams if he wanted to but it is more about what we do.
“We have some very good footballers at this football club and if we play like we can play then we will be more than alright this season.
“It is a challenge to play the bookies favourites first but it is a great early test for us and I’m confident that we will be a lot better than last season. I have got faith in this group and although things won’t run smoothly all the time, if the players run around and give me 100% every game then I cannot ask for much more.”
