Four different scorers at Crewe trounce Robins at Ashton Gate
Alex Morris' Under 23 side continued their charge towards the end of season U23 PDL2 play-offs with a domineering 4-1 victory against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Alex Kiwomya, Ross Woodcock, Callum Saunders & Perry Ng found the net for the Alex to record the comfortable victory, despite falling behind to an early Robins goal.
The hosts took the lead in the 14th minute, Freddie Hinds tapping in at the far post after neat play & a drill across goal from Jonny Smith.
But Crewe responded just six minutes later, the lively Charlie Kirk cutting in from the right & sliding Kiwomya through on goal to slot in at the near post.
The visitors continued the assault & completed the turnaround on the half-hour mark, U18 full-back Woodcock getting on the overlap & receiving Kirk's pass before firing into the far corner.
With their tails up, Crewe made it 3-1 just moments later on the 32 minute mark, Saunders latching onto a long ball, twisting & turning the defender before drilling home.
Leading by the two goals, the Alex produced a different kind of performance in the second period, retaining the ball & managing the game with the Cheshire Cup Final against Nantwich Town just 48 hours later.
But there was one more addition to the score-line. A well-worked corner routine found it's way to Ng at the back post in the 70th minute for the defender to head into the roof of the net & cap off the emphatic win.
After that Senior Cup Final on Wednesday (5 April, 7:45pm) the U23's face Leeds at Gresty Road on Monday (10 April, 1pm) before welcoming Watford to Gresty Road the following Wednesday (19 April, 1pm). They then end the season will a trip to fellow play-off chasing rivals Sheffield United on Monday 24 April.
