Ray Undergoes Scan As Crewe Wait On Skipper

20 April 2017

Crewe hoping Ray's back will settle down so he can face Orient at the weekend

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell may have to rethink his centre-half partnership after all four of his defenders have picked up injuries in recent weeks. Captain George Ray underwent a scan to assess his back after he was forced off at half-time during our 3-0 defeat at Yeovil Town on Easter Monday.

Artell is also without Harry Davis, who suffered a knee injury whilst on loan at St. Mirren, Ben Nugent (knee) and Jon Guthrie (hernia). Central midfielder Billy Bingham stepped in at centre-half alongside youngster Perry Ng at Huish Park and he may be asked to perform the role again with Leyton Orient arriving in South Cheshire on Saturday.

The O’s need the three points to keep their slim hopes of surviving in the EFL alive.
