Pickering Has A Taste Of It

25 April 2017

Harry Pickering becomes the latest youngster to make his first-team debut.

David Artell was pleased to hand a deserved debut to young Harry Pickering on Saturday. Pickering replaced Callum Ainley for the final half an hour of our 3-0 win over Leyton Orient at the weekend and the Crewe boss says it is up to the Academy graduate to get more first-team minutes under his belt.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Everyone at the club knows what the business model is. We want to develop our own and give them an opportunity.

“A great example of that was Harry on Saturday. He is the latest of our younger players to make his debut for the first team, now it is up to him to play more minutes if not this year, then certainly next season.

“It is all a part of their development to have thousands of eyes on them. Their technique has to be right and they have to know what they are doing. If it not as if we can stop the game, and have a time out to let them know what they should be doing. It is all about them learning and that being part of the process.”
