Artell: "We Are Not On Holiday Yet"

25 April 2017

Boss warns his players about being professional in our two remaining games.

David Artell wants his Crewe Alexandra side to finish the season as strongly as possible and he is aiming to spoil Plymouth Argyle’s promotion party on Saturday by recording another win on the road. The Alex boss says that his players have been informed that they are playing for their futures at the Football Club.

.Artell was delighted with his side’s response to losing 3-0 at Yeovil on Easter Monday, as first half goals from Callum Ainley, Ryan Wintle and George Cooper sent Leyton Orient into non-league at the weekend

The Crewe manager told crewealex.net: “The Leyton Orient game could have been a tricky one but the players approached it with a real professionalism and I thought they were terrific all the way through.

“Some of our quality play was top drawer and we made Leyton Orient look a poor side. That is credit to ourselves rather than us feeling sorry for anyone. If they were 15th in the league and we were below them we wouldn’t have been feeling sorry for them.

“We had a job to do and its dog eat dog in this game. We performed and now we have to do the same in the last two games. We could finish as high as 15th, I’m told, so that has to be the aim. We didn’t look like we would be finishing 15th when I took over, so we are heading in the right direction.

“The players are well paid by this football club, so if they think they are on their holiday now that we are safe, then they best get ready. We have two games and the target is six points and to finish as high as we can.”
