Artell Targets Easter Safety Mark

12 April 2017

Boss wants his players to surpass 50 point mark over busy Bank Holiday weekend.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell wants his team to address a slide of two straight defeats to Cambridge United and Accrington Stanley by making sure we surpass the safety of the 50-point mark over the Easter weekend.

The Railwayman face Notts County and Yeovil in quick succession and Artell has called on his players to get back on track. One more win should see any fears of a relegation to the Conference put to bed, but Artell is looking for his squad to finish the season as strongly as possible.

David told crewealex.net: “We have had a decent couple of months but getting another win is at the front of my mind at the moment. We are not there yet and we have to make sure we get it done as quickly as possible.

“We have got ourselves out of it over the last few months but we have lost two games on the bounce now and we need to eradicate those errors and get back on track.

“As a manager you want to win every game. That is not always possible of course, but you prepare to win and that is what we do for every game. That won’t change because I believe that if we do not make those mistakes then we have a very talented group of players, who have shown that they are more than capable of competing.

“Every game is winnable and as I’ve said, we always have great respect for our opponents but we do not fear anyone.

“We have two tough games coming up but we want to put any fears of us being dragged back into it, firmly to bed over Easter.”
