Dave proud for players despite John Coleman winning prize
Manager Dave Artell has declared his Manager Of The Month nomination as a reward for all of his staff & players after being pipped to winning the award by Accrington's John Coleman.
The Crewe boss lost out to the Gaffer of tomorrow's opponents for the March award & joked about the Manager of the Month curse, hoping it fell on Stanley just in time for The Alex's visit to the Wham Stadium.
Artell said: "I'm delighted John Coleman has got it, because everyone I have spoken to has said that a curse comes with it. so I hope that's true for our game tomorrow!
"In all seriousness, it's certainly not about me. It's a reflection of how the players have performed over the last few games & it is for them.
"That's what hard work, belief, and a bit of quality gets you. The plan is to get that nomination one more time this season, then eight times next season, I don't think that's too much to ask.
"If we break it down into months, work hard, believe & use our talent then we'll see where we get to - then repeat that eight times. If you do that you've got half a chance.
"We'll take the credit for it, a bit like the back four take the credit for clean sheets & the strikers for scoring goals, but it's never about individuals in my book. It's all about us all as a collective & our recognition for what we're doing here."
