We Will Talk To Players About Holding

7 September 2016

Steve will talk to players again about the clamping down on holding in the box.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis will reiterate to his players that they have be extremely careful when making contact with opposition players inside the penalty area.

Crewe defender Harry Davis was penalised for pulling the shirt of Doncaster Rovers’ midfielder Tommy Rowe at the weekend and Rowe picked himself to tuck home the penalty kick. Thankfully, Crewe went up the other end to win the game thanks to James Jones’ first goal of the season.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We will work on our defending and we will talk to the players again about the danger of holding in the box. The players know about the new rules and that the officials are looking for those type of incidents.

“If there is contact being made then players are going to go over so we have to reiterate to the players about that and making sure they are clear in their minds that they run the risk.”
