Udoh: "Delighted To Be Off The Mark"

1 September 2016

Daniel Udoh says his first goal at Accrington was the perfect way to celebrate his 20th birthday.

Daniel Udoh says that scoring his first professional goal for Crewe Alexandra was the perfect way to celebrate his 20th birthday. Udoh replaced Callum Ainley in the second half at Accrington on Tuesday night and the former Ilkeston and Stevenage man got his reward with a late tap-in in our 3-0 win in the EFL Trophy. It was only Udoh’s 7th appearance for the club and the likeable striker is delighted to get off the mark.

Dan told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “I was delighted to score my first goal and I cannot think of anything better to celebrate my birthday. It was the perfect present and I can only thank the gaffer, the coaches and the club for giving me a chance.

“I was on the bench sat next to Billy Bingham and he kept telling me that there was a goal there for me. I just wanted to get on the pitch and work hard for the team. I got my chance and I was just delighted to score.

“Jay (James Collins) has been on at me to get across my man and I did that and Coops has put the ball on my boot and I’ve tapped it in. It was a great feeling.

“This cup competition is going to be important for me, because I hope I will get some more chances to show what I can do. I am still learning and playing in those games will be a great experience for me.

“When I get a chance, I just want to keep on working hard and try my best.”
