Steve: "Solid Start To Build On"

14 September 2016

Steve Davis says hard work has to continue to sustain promising season.

Steve Davis has praised the contribution of his staff and his players after Crewe Alexandra moved up to 6th spot following the first month of the season. A 2-0 win over Exeter City propelled the Alex into the play-off places and Davis has been relatively pleased with how the first month of the campaign has gone.

The Crewe Alexandra boss was determined to make a better start to a season and our only league defeat has come at Cheltenham.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have made a solid start and I’ve been relatively pleased with the way the first month or so has gone. We have dropped some points that perhaps we shouldn’t have and I refer to the Hartlepool game for that.

“We have also gained some points that we probably didn’t quite deserve such as the Doncaster game. We have had the rub of the green a bit and it makes a change because I didn’t think we had much luck at all last season.

“Credit must go to the players and to the staff because we knew what we wanted to do in the pre-season and everyone has worked hard to give ourselves the best possible chance of having a better season.

He added: “We have made a good start but that is all it is. We have now won our first game of September but we have to keep that going. We are not going to win every week but we have got to be as consistent as we can be.

He added: “We have been in good form and if we continue to work hard then we pick up points.”
