Steve Aims To Keep Unbeaten Sequence Going

27 September 2016

Boss says it is important that we continue to grind results out.

Steve Davis says it is essential that Crewe Alexandra continue to grind out results and if we can avoid defeat. The Railwaymen have made a promising start to the new season and have lost just one game in 90 minutes so far, a 2-0 defeat away at Cheltenham. That form has seen Crewe move into the top 7 and the Crewe boss is pleased with the start we have made but he stresses that expectation levels have to be kept in check.

Crewe were held to a 1-1 draw by Blackpool at the weekend afterwards Davis admitted it was important that we fought back from the disappointing of conceding an unfortunate early own goal.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The one thing I did notice was the reaction of the crowd at times. They sometimes got frustrated quicker if a pass went a stray or a move broke down.

That hasn’t that much this season but we have started well and with that comes an increase in expectation.

“We are not going to win every game this season and we are going to have to go through some tough times. It is a long season and a difficult season and plenty things can happen.

“I was looking through our results when we went on that unbeaten run last time to win promotion and there are a number of draws in there. It was an unbeaten sequence that grew our confidence.

He added: “If we not playing well or things are not going your way, it is important that you try not to lose the game. I was pleased we managed not to lose the game on Saturday and keep our unbeaten run going.”
