Players Buying Into Philosophy

14 September 2016

Boss says human nature to to more receptive when you are winning.

Steve Davis says his players are buying into our attacking philosophy because results and performances have been encouraging so far this season. The Alex have lost just one game in 10 games if you assess it over 90 minutes and the Crewe boss says that developing that unbeaten habit has restored confidence within the group.

The Alex travel to Grimsby on Saturday hoping to extend our recent run to four straight wins after successes over Accrington in the Checkatrade Cup and League Two wins over Doncaster Rovers and Exeter City.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The players are confident and that is what happens when you are winning games or making sure you are not losing them. Any manager will tell you at whatever level you play at, if you have the winning habit then the confidence and morale will be high.

“We have a good group and they cannot wait to play the games. They would much prefer to be playing than training and they will want to be out there again tonight if they could be.

“”That is what happens when you win games. The players buy into what you say and what you want them to do. If you are winning games they tend to be more receptive because it is working if you like.

He added: “When you are losing games, then they do not buy into it as much. When things are going well it is human nature to want to listen more and be more involved. “
