Lowe Rated As Doubt For Grimsby Trip

16 September 2016

Crewe to wait on captain ahead of Humberside trip

Ryan Lowe remains a doubt for this weekend’s trip to Grimsby after not training all week. The veteran striker has been suffering with tight hamstrings but boss Steve Davis says he will give his captain as long as possible before deciding whether he will travel with the squad later today.

Davis is hoping that Lowe will participate in today’s final session and declare himself fit. Callum Saunders and Dan Udoh remain on stand-by.

Chris Dagnall and Alex Kiwomya have trained and have made themselves available for the trip to Blundell Park. Danny Hollands has had a slight problem after getting a knock on his hip during our 2-0 win over Exeter but the midfielder is fine and has trained.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have had a couple of doubts during the week and Ryan has not been able to train all week. We will make a decision on him later today.

“He just has a bit of fatigue in the muscle. He has had a scan and it is all clear, so we are hoping it will settle down enough for him to travel with us. It is just a bit of stiffness and tightness, so I’ll speak with him and see how he is.”
