Kirk: "Time To Step On The Gas"

8 September 2016

Teenager on his new contract deal.

Youngster Charlie Kirk says he is ‘buzzing’ after signing a new and improved contract with the club. The 18-year-old winger signed along with his close pal Callum Ainley until the summer of 2018 and Kirk admits that having the security of a new deal will provide a platform for him to push on and challenge for a first-team place.

Due to the form of George Cooper and the on-loan Alex Kiwomya, Kirk has recently found himself out of the starting XI but he is determined to push those ahead of them all the way for the shirt.

Talking exclusively to Crewe Alex PlayerHD, Kirk said: “I am buzzing and have been since the gaffer called me into his office and told me about it.

“The new contract will give me a platform to push on and try and get into the first team more often than not.

“I have come a long way through the Academy and to come through with one of my best mates (Callum) as well is great. I am just glad that everything is sorted now and I can focus on my football.

“Just because I have got this contract doesn’t mean I stop wanting to get better. Now is the time for me to put my foot on the gas and go.”
