Jones says that the club’s promising start to the season has restored some confidence following our relegation from League One. Crewe have lost just once in the league away at Cheltenham but Crewe will be looking for a hat-trick of wins against Exeter City this Saturday following victories over Accrington in the Checkatrade Trophy and Doncaster.

Jones told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: "As much as people tell you to put last season behind you and focus ahead, it is sometimes hard to do that straight away.

"But getting the win at home a lot earlier than we did last season has given us something to build on.

"Confidence is massive in football, that's why we have to keep trying to get as many points as we can. The more we do that the better we will do.

"It was a great mood in the dressing room after the game and now we want to keep winning and keep that good feeling.

"It's a great win and we're unbeaten at home.

"We don't want do it like that every week but it is nice when it comes about like that.

"I didn't get much chance (to celebrate) because everyone was jumping on me, but it was a great emotion, there's not much more you can ask for.

"It's about time I scored. It's been due and hopefully I won't have to wait as long for the next one.

Jones added: "If I keep getting up and around there the goals should come.”
