Danny Hollands says there a lot of positives to take from our encouraging start to the season
Saturday’s match winning goal scorer Danny Hollands firmly believes that there is enough quality in the Crewe Alexandra squad to make us genuine contenders in the promotion race. Back to back home wins has seen Crewe propel themselves into the top 7 and Hollands feels that if we can keep on improving that we could be in for an exciting campaign.
Hollands told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “It is nice to win at home again and it is three on the bounce if you count the cup win at Accrington. There are things to improve on and we come in as a team and as a squad and discuss those things after the game.
“It is only little things we need work on and we would like to have more possession of the ball because Crewe are renowned for that but the main things is that we are playing some good stuff in spells and winning games.
“We are playing some really good football at times and of course we would like to do that more often in the games but every game is tough and you have to do the ugly side of things, dig in and make sure we get the result as well. We are doing that.
“There is a lot of quality in the squad. The youngsters have a lot of ability and that just isn’t the ones we see in the games, but in training every day and when they come off the bench or when the manager changes things around for a cup game.
“We have put in some good performances and picked up some good result and we have to keep on working hard. “
On his first goal for Crewe, Danny told us: “I can make those types of runs but I would imagine the Crewe fans haven’t seen that part of my game too much yet. I managed to get there and have a touch. It was a fantastic pass from Daggers and I tried to stay as composed as I could to finish it because it was still 1-0 and you are always anxious with that score line going into the last few minutes.”
