Boss takes precaution with forwards after they pick up slight injuries.
Crewe Alexandra’s forwards Ryan Lowe, Chris Dagnall and Alex Kiwomya have been excused training as they aim to shake off knocks ahead of the weekend trip to Grimsby Town. The club medical staff will remain cautious with three of our key players and will give them time to rest and recover.
Crewe boss Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “We have one or two carrying slight knocks, so having the free mid-week will allow them some time to rest.
“Ryan always has his second day recovery but he will train tomorrow. We just have to be cautious and careful with him and he knows his own body better than anyone.
“Chris has some tightness in his Achilles, so he hasn’t trained as a precaution. We are hoping that has settled down over the last couple of days and that he will be able to train again tomorrow.
“Alex has some tightness in his hamstring, so he had a recovery day. He should be fine and we expect them to be ready for the weekend.
Steve added: “We have had a lot of games in the opening few weeks of the season, so this week’s rest will do them all a bit of good.”
