Boss Praise For His Captain Lowe

Steve on hardworking Ryan Lowe.

Steve Davis praised the contribution of his captain Ryan Lowe after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Grimsby. Lowe was suffering with a tight hamstring during the week and was unable to train properly ahead of Friday’s final session but the 37-year-old declared himself fit to start at Blundell Park.

Although he was denied a goal himself at the beginning of the second half, it was his wonderful pass that created the opening goal of the game for winger George Cooper just before the interval. Lowe’s visionary pass across the Grimsby box was inch perfect for Cooper, who calmly finished it into the bottom corner for his third of the season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan had not trained all week and was a real doubt. He was struggling but managed to do a bit on Friday before we left and I started with him because of what he can offer us.

“His pass for George to score was exceptional. He looked up and put it perfectly into his path. It was a great pass.

The boss added: “He worked as hard as ever and looked as though he had trained all week.”
