Boss On Alex Nomination

6 September 2016

Steve Davis pleased that Kiwomya's start to the season has seen him nominated for award.

Crewe Alexandra boss says that Alex Kiwomya deserves the recognition of being nominated for the League Two player of the month for August after settling in to life at the Alexandra Stadium extremely quickly.

The on-loan Chelsea winger has scored three league goals and made key assisted in other Crewe goals since arriving from Stamford Bridge and Davis has been delighted with his contribution so far this season.

On Kiwomya’s EFL nomination, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It's recognition for the club and for him as an individual, Alex deserves to be nominated – he has scored some great goals, he has made goals.

“The last two games haven't been quite up to the very high standards he has set, but in the games he has played we can't ask for any more.

“He has been a breath of fresh air in terms of what he does, a very attacking player and he is having a real go at the other side of the game too.

“He needs to keep working hard, remember why he has been nominated this month. If he can continue in that vein and have the same consistency he'll get nominated every month.

The boss added: “Alex is a lot fitter and has proved he can last the games, he has never played so many games before in his career but he has shown his level of fitness is now very good.”

The winner is announced at the end of the week.
