Bakayogo Spirit Praised By Boss

5 September 2016

Steve Davis says Zooms was desperate to play after pickig up knock in mid-week.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that the character of Zoumana Bakayogo typifies what he is looking for from his players. The club’s left-back shook off the knock he sustained in the 3-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night to retain his place for the visit of Doncaster Rovers.

minute when his fantastic cross to the far post was knocked down by Ollie Turton and the advanced midfielder James Jones tucked it home to give us a 2-1 win. thBakayogo was instrumental in creating our winning goal in the 87

Bakayogo may have been a doubt going into the game, but he made two last ditch tackles to prevent a strong Doncaster side from scoring.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Zoumana was excellent. We didn’t think he was going to make it but he wants to play in every game and if there is nothing holding him back then he will be out there. He is prepared to play with a slight knock and that is the type of spirit and character I want.

“He made some great recovery tackles. There was one when he followed their man and made a great interception. He timed it perfectly and if he hasn’t had made it then he had a great chance in front of our goal.

“His covering to help up others was excellent.”
