Alex Calm Finishing Praised

Steve Davis says on-loan Chelsea yougster is oozing confidence.

Steve Davis has praised the finishing of his on-loan winger Alex Kiwomya after the Chelsea youngster netted his fourth goal of the season with a well taken finish in our 2-0 win over Exeter City on Saturday.

Kiwomya raced onto a superb through ball from George Cooper to give Crewe the lead just after the 20 minute mark and the Alex boss has been delighted with his contribution thus far.

Recently, the 20-year-old narrowly missed out on the SKY Bet League Two Player of the Month award to Doncaster Rovers’ captain James Coppinger but his goal at Newport was nominated for the Goal of the Month for August.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Alex showed great composure for his goal. It was a fantastic pass from George (Cooper) and Alex’s movement to get in behind was excellent.

“He was very composed in that situation. He was very calm and didn’t panic when he was one-one-one and that is a great asset to have as a forward player. He took it very well and you can see the confidence he has at the moment because of the goals he has been getting and the way he has been playing.

The boss added: “He is scoring all type of goals and he has been terrific with us with his pace and his ability to go past players.”
