Turton: "Confidence Remains High"

20 October 2016

Turton believes fighting back in games has only helped with confidence.

Full back Ollie Turton believes that Crewe Alexandra can be genuine contenders for promotion this season. The former club captain feels that due to our promising start to the new season, the confidence has been restored inside the dressing room and that with our front four in fine form, we can always score in games.

Ollie told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “There is a lot better feeling than last season because we are going into the games believing that we will score goals and win the game. Last season it was tough because we would be in the game and lose by the odd goal. It knocks your confidence as a team when you are not winning and conceding late goals.

“This season we are definitely going into games with more confidence. We are going into them both at home and away believing we can push on and get the win.

“As a back four and Ben in goal, we know that if we can get that clean-sheet then we have players here who can get us a goal. The defending at the back is better and I think we are all enjoying it.

“As a back four we know there are players ready to come in and take your place, so that keeps you on your toes.

Ollie added: “I think we have had a good start to the season. We have probably drawn too many games but overall, I think we are improving as a team and if we can get that win I’m sure we can go on a little run.”
