Steve: “It’s Between The Four Of Them For One Spot”

Boss challenges Kiwomya, Kirk, Ainley & Lowery to claim position

Crewe Manager Steve Davis has declared the left-midfield slot very much up for grabs for the trip to Notts County this weekend.

Since Alex Kiwomya picked up a shoulder injury at Grimsby, the role has been up for grabs with both Charlie Kirk and Callum Ainley given the starting berth in the following games.

Add into that young Tommy Lowery after two impressive appearances in as a substitute in the last two games, and the return to fitness of Kiwomya and Davis has a real selection headache on his hands.

Steve said: “We’ve tried Callum, we’ve tried Charlie and we’ve now tried Tommy. Neither of the first two have really taken the position and stamped their authority on it.

“I was hoping that one of them would really come through and shine, but obviously Tom out of the three of them lately has been the one to keep the place, even though it was only 45 minutes.

“With Alex coming back we’ll assess that this week. It will be between the four of them to fill the one spot.”
