Steve: "I Don't Expect An Apology"

18 October 2016

Manager says he will complile a DVD of the incident that cost us at Notts County.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he will construct a DVD of the incident that prevented Crewe Alexandra from collecting all three points at Notts County on Saturday. With the game goalless at the time, the officials failed to spot Harry Davis’ header from a George Cooper corner had crossed the line. The game ended 1-1 with Alex Kiwomya coming off the bench to score the equaliser.

Davis was understandably disappointed that the ‘goal’ was not given and he will ask the refereeing department and the assessors for their opinion.

Steve said: “I haven’t done a voice over of the incident yet, but I will. It was clearly over the line and we are all disappointed by the decision because I feel that if we had taken the lead at that stage, we had a better chance of winning the game. It was a key decision at an important time and the linesman got it wrong.

“He told me at the time that he believed he had got it right but he didn’t. I don’t think we will get an apology. It doesn’t really happen. It has happened to me once in the year we were promoted. The referee awarded a goal at Hereford when we felt there was a handball involved for their goal and he had the decency to call me and said ‘sorry I got it wrong’. I had a lot of respect for that and for people who are prepared to put their hands up and say they got it wrong.

The boss added: “I don’t expect an apology but you never know I might get a phone call from the officials this week.”
