Lowe: "We Have To Stop Conceding Soft Goals"

10 October 2016

Ryan Lowe disappointed that we didn't collect all three points at Luton.

Ryan Lowe was pleased that we showed great character again to come from behind at Luton and collect another point but the veteran striker was annoyed with the goal we conceded just before half-time. Somewhat against the run of play, a superb delivery from Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu unlocked the Alex defence to give Danny Hylton a simple tap-in.

Lowe headed home a George Cooper cross to draw us level with 25 minutes left on the clock but we couldn’t quite find that winning goal.

Lowe told Crewe Alex PlayerHD: “I thought we were the better team and we were disappointed not to have won the game. We were disappointed with the goal we conceded. It was soft from our point of view and it was disappointing to concede it just before half time because I felt we dominated large parts of the half and created some good chances.

“We got in behind them a few times and we responded well to going a goal behind but we cannot keep doing that. There is character in the team to do that , to fight back but we don’t want to keep on doing that.

“We don’t want to keep going a goal down and needing to score two to win. We don’t want to concede soft goals from our point of view and if we can keep a clean-sheet then it is up to the forwards and others in the team to find those goals.

The 38-year-old added: “We showed great character and belief to come back again but we have got to learn from our mistakes and maybe go one or two goals ahead ourselves.”
