Kiwomya Set To Return

10 October 2016

On-loan Chelsea winger to get game time this afternoon at Coventry.

Alex Kiwomya is set to play some game time for the club’s Development Squad this afternoon. Alex Morris’ side face Coventry City this afternoon and the on-loan Chelsea winger is set to make his competitive return after he suffered a dislocated shoulder at Grimsby.

Kiwomya, 20, has missed the club’s last five games and during that time Crewe have not recorded a victory. Crewe have drawn three and lost twice, once heavily to Wycombe Wanderers and to Wolves in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis said: “Alex has worked hard to get back sooner than expected. We will give him some game time for the U-21s to see how he is. Sometimes these type of injuries are more of a mental thing than physical.

“He hasn’t missed too much football so we are hoping that he is not too far behind in his match fitness.

“We will see how he does at Coventry and if runs about and comes through fine, then we could include him in the squad for the weekend.

“We have missed him because we don’t have a player in the squad who has that same level of pace and willingness to run in behind or take his man on. That is why we were keen to bring him here in the first place.

Steve added “Alex was one we highlighted, and we were delighted that we got him here. He has made a difference to us with his goals and assists.”
