JC: "Luton Will Provide Stern Test"

5 October 2016

Collins looks forward to first trip to Kenilworth Road for eight years.

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager James Collins believes that our weekend trip to Luton Town will provide the perfect marker to see where we are in relation to the contenders in League Two.

The Alex face the Hatters for the first time since 2008 when we went down 2-1 thanks to two goals from Matty Spring. Nicky Maynard was on target for the Alex at Kenilworth Road.

Luton have made a bright start to the season and a 1-1 draw away at Cheltenham at the weekend, sees them handily placed in fourth place on 18 points.

James told the club’s official web-site: “Luton are a big club for this division and I am old enough to remember them in the top division.

“We haven’t been there for a while but it is always a good atmosphere at Kenilworth Road and they are a good side.

“It will be a good test for us and will be a good indication of where we are. They have played with a diamond this season, so we will enjoy the tactical side of things and trying to get the better of them.

“It will be interesting to come up with a plan to match that and then counter it with our own dangerous players. It is a game we are looking forward to."
