Davis: "One Game At A Time"

10 October 2016

Focus in on us building on our good start to the season.

Steve Davis says his team will continue to take things one game at a time after picking up a useful point at promotion rivals Luton Town at the weekend. The Alex arguably shaded the possession and the better of the chances at Kenilworth Road, but we had to fight back from going a goal down just before half-time with Danny Hylton tapping in from closing range after the Hatters successfully exposed our back line.

Crewe hit back with a superbly crafted goal on 64 minutes. Substitute Tommy Lowery, who was introduced at half-time for Charlie Kirk, switched the play to George Cooper and the in-form winger produced an inch perfect cross for Ryan Lowe to direct his header home. It was no more than Crewe had deserved for their overall performance.

Steve told “It is important that we keep on picking up points. We had to come from behind yet again but we have shown on a few occasions already this season that we are capable of doing that. There is character in this group.

“We want to win every game and our mind-set is to try and do that, regardless if we are a home or away. If we don’t win the game then we want to go out and win the next one. It is as simple as that. We look at every game and prepare to cause them some problems and aim to win the game.

“If we cannot win then it is important we don’t lose as these may prove to be useful points at the end of the season.

“We have made a fairly positive start to the season, but I won’t be settling for that. We can be better and we will work hard to improve and have a successful season. We have something to build on and we have to keep on picking up points and doing everything we can to turn these draws into wins.”
