Steve targets cup run after drawing League Two rivals Cheltenham.
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he is relatively pleased with our first round FA Cup draw. Crewe were number 17 in last night’s draw and came out fairly late on to be drawn away at our League Two rivals Cheltenham Town. One of Crewe’s two defeats this season came at Whaddon Road, so Steve is hoping we can avenge that result and progress to round two.
Steve told crewealex.net: “I think it is a decent draw. The first round of the FA Cup without the Premier League and Championship clubs involved always gives you a chance to get through. We have been drawn against a team that is in our league, so we will know about them.
“We have lost twice this season, and one of those occurred at Cheltenham so we will be looking to avenge that results and hopefully progress to the second round. We will want to put that right when the fixture comes around. We will treat it exactly the same as any other game but first up for us is Yeovil.
“I’ve said for many years that we want to do well in the FA Cup, for ourselves, the club and the supporters. I would like a decent run it because everyone involved in football loves the FA Cup.”
