Boss Delighted Kiwomya Ahead Of Schedule

7 October 2016

Alex Kiwomya to feature for U-23s ahead of a possible return against Notts County.

Alex Kiwomya is expected to play some part in the club’s Development match at Coventry City on Monday after successfully making a return to non-contact training. The on-loan Chelsea winger has missed the club’s last four matches after suffering a shoulder injury away at Grimsby - but boss Steve Davis says that the hard work the 20-year-old has put in out on the training ground has paid dividends. Kiwomya is ahead of schedule and could now be involved against Notts County on Saturday week.

The Alex boss revealed to the club’s official web-site: “Alex has successfully returned to training. It was only non-contact but he had a couple of brushes with the players when they forgot and he was fine!

“Of course, the real test will be when he plays again and goes to ground but these things are usually more mental things than physical. Alex has worked extremely hard to get back and he is ahead of schedule. He has made good progress and he may be involved against Notts County.

“We will look to give him some game time against Coventry City on Monday for the Under-23s and take it from there. We will not look to push him to quickly if he is not ready but although he has missed some games, he is naturally fit and it shouldn’t take him too long to get that match fitness back.”
