Boss Calls On Becoming More Clinical

19 October 2016

Steve Davis wants our possession stats to turn into more goals after five goals in last five league games.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis wants his team to become more clinical when on top in games. The Railwaymen return to Gresty Road this weekend to face Yeovil Town after back-to-back away draws at Luton and Notts County.

Davis is pleased that his side have shown their resourcefulness in grinding out results but he wants his players to try and net that first goal and go on to add a second goal if possible.

Ahead of this weekend’s home game with the Glovers, the Alex boss said: “We have defended reasonably well but have conceded some soft goals from our point of view. That has meant we have had to chase the game and score to level or two to win.

“We have shown that we can come back in games but we want to be doing better than that. The standard is high here and we want to be scoring more than the one goal. We want to be more clinical and score two or three if we can.

He added: “I don’t think we have had too much luck either with some decisions. It hasn’t gone our way at times but hopefully, overall that will even out. Hopefully, the luck will turn for us a bit in tight games.”
