Zoumana Out With Hamstring Tear

14 November 2016

Bakayogo out for between two-to-three weeks after picking up injury against Plymouth.

Crewe Alexandra’s first choice left back Zoumana Bakayogo has suffered a slight tear in his hamstring, which will rule him out for between two-three weeks. Bakayogo was forced off in the first half against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and was replaced by Ben Nugent. That led to a defensive reshuffle with the versatile Jon Guthrie switching to left-back.

It is a blow for boss Steve Davis, who has already seen his defensive options limited with injuries to right-back Ollie Turton and centre-half George Ray. Both are unlikely to be ready to face Cheltenham in our FA Cup replay tomorrow evening.

The Alex boss told us: “The treatment room is not looking too good at the moment. We have lost Zoumana. He has a tear in his hamstring, so he will be out for between two to three weeks.

“We are a bit short with the defenders with Ollie and George not quite there yet. We also have the two centre-halves on yellow cards, so if we lose another one then we are going into the unknown a bit with one of the younger ones.”
