"We Might Change System"

3 November 2016

Boss hints at system change to perhaps aquire an advantage at Whaddon Road.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has hinted that he may change our playing system for this weekend’s FA Cup tie at Cheltenham Town. The manager has had Cheltenham watched on a number of occasions this season and they switched to a diamond midfield at the weekend.

Steve admits that they have been working on playing different shapes in training over the last few weeks and that our FA Cup first round tie could just be perfect time to try one of them out.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Cheltenham have shown they can change but so can we. They have played three at the back this season but they also played with a diamond recently.

“They will probably go back to three at the back to try and restrict our space but we can change to. We might change.

He added: “We have been working on one or two things in training and who knows, it might be the perfect time to try it on Saturday. We will have to see how we line-up on the day, but it is something we have seriously considered to maybe get us that advantage.”
