Udoh & Saunders Battle It Out To Start

8 November 2016

Door culd re-open for young understudies if Dagnall is ruled out through injury.

If experienced forward Chris Dagnall is not risked this evening then the youngsters Dan Udoh and Callum Saunders will battle it out to partner the veteran Ryan Lowe in attack. Dagnall was withdrawn at half-time during our 1-1 draw with Cheltenham in the FA Cup after aggravating his calf following a challenge from behind.

With Dagnall rated as a severe doubt, the door could open for one of the younger back-ups in the Checkatrade Trophy. Udoh replaced Dagnall at Whaddon Road but that doesn’t necessary mean he will get the nod according to boss Steve Davis.

“If Daggers does not make it then there will be a chance for one of the young replacements to step up, ‘says Steve. “Dan came on at Cheltenham and he deserved his chance. He had scored a few goals for the Development Squad and Callum (Saunders) has just come back from his knee injury.

“Callum was a bit behind in terms of his match sharpness but that doesn’t mean he won’t be involved this evening. One of them will fill the void if Chris doesn’t make it. It is unlikely that Daggers will play, so it will be a good opportunity for one of them.”
