Steve Disappointed With Colchester Collapse

Boss on the heavy U's loss

Crewe Alex boss Steve Davis spoke of his 'obvious disappointment' after his side were put to the sword by Colchester United in Essex.

The U's ran out 4-0 victors on an afternoon to forget for the Alex, with Kurtis Guthrie, Owen Garvan, Drey Wright & Brennan Dickenson inflicting the damage on the side.

Steve said: "We were obviously really disappointed. We wanted to build on the draw at Barnet & win against Morecambe & we weren't able to do that.

"We couldn't sustain a level & that's probably why they're in this division, because of days like this.

"One-nil at half-time I thought we still had a chance, because I didn't think we could play as badly as we did in the first half.

"First 20 minutes of the second half we were good, & if we'd have scored one of those chances then it could've been a lot different.

"After the second goal from George's mistake, some of the heads dropped a little bit & we lost the fight.

"I didn't see enough fight from the team to prove that they wanted to get something out of the game, and that was disappointing."
