Ray Set For Two Weeks On The Sidelines

1 November 2016

Defender set for cortisone injection to ease hip problem.

Crewe Alexandra defender George Ray is set to have a cortisone injection to ease some inflammation around his hip area. The former Wales Under-21 International has been struggling with a hip and groin problem for the last few weeks and he had to withdraw from our Under-23 fixture at Birmingham City last week after complaining of discomfort during the warm-up. Ray had been set to start against Blues.

The defender has had a scan and may now have the injection in the hop that it will help the hip settle down.

Steve explained to crewealex.net: “George has had a scan and there is some scar tissue in there that is affecting his hip and causing him some problem with his groin.

“We are considering an injection to help the hip settle down. Of course, if it does persist and he breaks down then we will have to look at other options.

“If the injection has the desired effect then we would expect him to be back in training between 10 days to two weeks. “
