Performance Like Orient Was On The Cards

1 November 2016

Steve Davis believes that Orient result was due after a period of misfortune.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis felt that Saturday’s three points against Leyton Orient was on the cards. The Alex boss was delighted with the club’s performance at the Matchroom Stadium with goals from George Cooper and Harry Davis ending our winless run of seven matches.

Steve felt that during our recent run, which saw us draw four of our last seven games, we didn’t have much good fortune and he believes that the 2-0 away win in London can now be a springboard for us to pick up a few more wins heading into the final two months of the year.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We all felt after the game that that type of result was coming. We have not had much luck during our recent run. We felt that if the performance remained relatively good, then we would control a game like that. Obviously getting that first goal and then another one before half-time helped with that.

“We knew it was a really important three points for us with the cup games coming up and we wanted to get that win again. It takes us back up to seventh and we have to keep building on that.

“We felt that we have drawn too many games and should have three or four more from our recent run but we didn’t get the rub of the green with some decisions.

“They all worked really hard on Saturday and it was nice to see them rewarded for the way they approached the game and the performance they put in. Sometimes in football you don’t get what you deserve and we feel we have had a few like that recently.

“We will continue to work hard and strive to improve and become better.”
