Lowe Came Through Unscathed

1 November 2016

Boss says veteran striker was determined to play to help team get back to winning ways.

Veteran striker Ryan Lowe came through Saturday’s test at Leyton Orient unscathed after he was rated as a doubt in the build-up to the game. Steve Davis decided to substitute the 38-year-old in place of Billy Bingham in the 77th minute with Crewe leading 2-0 at the Matchroom Stadium.

Bingham’s introduction protected our advantage but also gave Lowe a rest after he missed the majority of training last week due to a tight hamstring.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Ryan was struggling during the week and we didn’t think he would make it at one point. He had a scan and there was some nerve damage there but he wanted to play and he got through.

“He had been complaining of a tight hamstring but he played close to 80 minutes and has trained today. We expect him to be fine for the weekend.”
