The absence of James Jones and Billy Bingham could open the door for fringe players.
Crewe Alexandra will be without their FA Cup goalscorer James Jones for Tuesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy tie against Chesterfield due to his International commitments with Scotland Under-21s. Jones has been called up by Scott Gemmill for their friendly against Slovakia on Wednesday 9th November.
Jones joined up with the Scotland squad following his equaliser against Cheltenham in the FA Cup on Saturday and has travelled to Slovakia to hopefully win his third cap at that level following his first call-up in September.
Jones is set to return to the UK on Thursday ahead of our weekend home game against league leaders Plymouth Argyle.
With Billy Bingham also struggling with a sore calf, the door is set to open for one of Steve Davis’ fringe midfield players if Bingham doesn’t declare himself fit for our final Group B encounter.
Everyone at Crewe Alexandra would like to congratulate James on his International recognition.
