Injuries All Coming At Once Is Difficult

18 November 2016

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that it is a blow to have a number of injuries all coming at once but that is part of football that you have to deal with. Crewe have experienced as many as seven first-team players struggling with injuries of late but he is hoping that his squad will be in much better shape by this time next week.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It is difficult when you get a lot of injuries coming all at once and it is probably one of the worst situations we have had for a while but it is part of football. You get challenges throughout a season and you have to deal with it.

“It makes it easier if you have a squad of 35 players but the lower league clubs cannot afford to do that. You just have to use what you have, get on with it and do the best we can. Someone being out gives others an opportunity and it is up to them to take it.

“I think the majority of them are progressing well and should be back soon. Ryan Lowe is fine. He came through really well from Tuesday, so he is a bonus.

“Ollie (Turton) has trained this week, so we are expecting him to travel with us later today. It would just be a case of him lasting the 90 minutes but he is fit any way. He is a fit lad and looks after himself well.

“Jon (Guthrie) and Harry (Davis) are okay. They have had some tightness in their hamstrings but they are fine and want to play.”
