First Team Donate To Charity Cycle With Penalty Competition

4 November 2016

Club's Digital Media Editor is cycling from Yorkshire to Amsterdam for Prostate Cancer UK

The Club's Digital Media Editor, Matt Johnson, is representing Crewe Alexandra for Men United's sponsored cycle from Yorkshire to Amsterdam to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Signing up to the scheme, Matt decided to approach the players for sponsorship in an interesting way - asking that they donate to his cause based on how many penalty kicks he could score against the Club's first team goalkeepers.

The players gladly accepted the challenge and tasked Matt with taking ten penalties against Ben Garratt & Dave Richards, with each successfully converted spot-kick earning £30 towards the fundraising efforts.

Such was the confidence of the players that Matt wouldn't be up to the task, on loan winger Alex Kiwomya offered up £100 extra to the fund should seven or more penalties be scored - putting a potential £400 prize pot up for grabs.
