Davis Happier With Balance Of Squad

3 November 2016

Steve Davis says blend of experience and youth is much better.

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is happy with the balance of his side after adding experienced players Ryan Lowe, Chris Dagnall and Danny Hollands to his squad in the summer.

The Alex boss felt that his Crewe side were too inexperienced to cope with the struggles of League One and he believes that a better balance between youth and experience has helped his side make a solid start to the new season. The Alex have probably dropped more points than we probably deserved too, but we have only lost three league games all season.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “The side is better balanced now. There is the right blend of youth and experience now. I felt we were too young last season in League One. When things were going against us, they didn’t know where to turn on the pitch. They didn’t have those experienced players around them.

“I was determined to change that this season and I think the mix is better now. We have Ryan, Chris, Zooms and Danny to help the younger ones and we still have a range of players who are still relatively young but they have played over 100 games already.

“They have a lot of experience in the league and the two up front have been brilliant for us and set the standard with their work ethic. They are helping the younger players.”
