Davis: "Crowd Play Massive Role In Performance"

22 November 2016

Steve says fans support is crucial to youngsters confidence.

Steve Davis has asked the club’s supporters to fully get behind the younger players in the team. The Alex boss says that the support of the crowd helps players, especially the younger ones.  In the wake of a growing injury list, he has had to introduce a number of inexperienced and young players to his team over the last few games.

Ahead our home game against Morecambe, the boss said: “The fans help the players and I don’t think they understand how much it can affect them, especially when we have so many U-23 players in the starting line-up.

“Those youngsters did well. The fans are entitled to their opinions but they have to realise that what they say or sing can affect the players, especially the younger one.

“We meet with them and they often talk about the impact the crowd can make on their performance when they make a mistake and how they overcome that.

“I know they have to cope with that side of the game and have to man-up and grow up, but that only comes with experience. Someone like Danny, Chris and Ryan can handle it because they have been I promotion winning teams and have had it but the fans play an important part for us.”
