What the press made of the U’s loss

The Chronicle
Crewe Alex dropped out of the play-off places when they were soundly beaten at struggling Colchester United on Saturday.
The Railwaymen were hoping to cement their place in the League Two promotion race and go into a weekend without a game on a high.
But Kurtis Guthrie’s first-half goal and second-half strikes from Owen Garvan, Drey Wright and Brennen Dickenson made it a miserable trip home for the 185 supporters who had made the long trip to Essex.
After a poor first half display the Alex looked poised to get back into the game with a vastly-improved start to the second.
But Colchester’s second proved a killer blow and Crewe’s record of seven straight wins at the U’s was in tatters.

Colchester Gazette
Colchester United recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since August following an impressive 4-0 win over Crewe Alexandra this afternoon.
Goals from Kurtis Guthrie, Owen Garvan, substitute Drey Wright and Brennan Dickenson secured the U's their first home league win since September 10, as they chalked up a second successive victory in League Two.
