Boss On Our Former Captain Fox

11 November 2016

Steve Davis says midfielder was a touch unlucky not to have been offered new deal.

Former Crewe Alexandra captain David Fox returns to the Alexandra Stadium this weekend as part of the Plymouth Argyle midfield and boss Steve Davis says that he is looking forward to seeing our former player. Fox, 32, made 41 appearances for us last season, scoring two goals but he was released at the end of his contract.

He moved to Devon to sign for Derek Adams’ side and he recently scored against another of his former clubs Colchester in the FA Cup. It was his first goal for the club in his 14 appearances so far this season and he is thriving with the league leaders.

Davis said of our former midfield player and captain: “David was a great lad and a good player. He was a bit unfortunate that we didn’t offer him a new deal. We just wanted to do things a bit different with Jonah, Billy and then getting the taller one in with Danny (Hollands).

“It was a really difficult season for everyone last season and Foxy was a great professional. He was playing some of his best football for us before he suffered that back injury at Blackpool following a tackle from behind. It was a set-back for him.

“He did well for us in a struggling team and I only have admiration for him as a man and as a player. It will be nice to see him and I know he is doing well for Plymouth as one of their holding midfield players.”
