Boss Looks Forward To Johnson Tactical Battle

4 November 2016

Steve Davis is looking forward to locking horns against with Gary Johnson in the FA Cup

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says he is looking forward to having another tactical battle with the vastly experienced Gary Johnson tomorrow. The Alex travel to Whaddon Road aiming to record a rare win in the FA Cup and progress to the second round of the competition and Davis is sure that there will be tactical tweaks going on during the game.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Gary has been in the game a long time and has great experience. There is a lot of talk about systems and all managers do like to try different things to get an advantage and we will be no different.

“Cheltenham have played with three at the back and been difficult to break down, like they were against us. They have also played a diamond shape. We have played three or four different systems as well, so we both won’t know how we are lining up until the whistle goes.

The Alex boss added: “We are not too sure how they will go and they won’t know how we are going to go either. I’m sure there will be a few tactical changes going on during the game. It will be a good tactical battle but more importantly it all depends on how the players perform on the day.”
