Steve: "Would Love To Have Something On Final Game"

6 May 2016

Alex boss says he is envious of Steven Pressley's position on Sunday with the destiny in their own hands.

Steve Davis says he will be ‘envious’ of his counterpart Steven Pressley when his Crewe Alexandra team face Fleetwood Town on Sunday. Fleetwood need to avoid defeat to remain in League One and it is a situation Davis would love to be involved in again. The Railwaymen have survived on the final day over the last two seasons but have been relegated back to League Two following a four-year spell at this level.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site: “I would have preferred to be in Steven’s position on Sunday with something riding on the result. I would most certainly have taken that after the season we had and the start we made.

“I miss that feeling of having something riding on the game. I will be envious of him on Sunday because we have had that experience over the last two seasons and managed to do it.

“We would all like to be involved in play-offs or promotion at the top end, but it is not always possible but there is still that excitement that comes with avoiding relegation as well. Every manager misses the feeling of having something to play for.

“Our next challenge is to get back up and then build on that and better ourselves at this level.”
