Steve Davis says he will make pre-season tougher for his squad to make sure we have a better start.

Steve Davis says that he will be aiming to impose a much tougher pre-season regime on his players to make sure that we make a much better start to next season. The Alex boss is aiming to line-up some more testing pre-season fixtures to make sure his players hit the ground running for the 2016/17 campaign
Due to work on the Gresty Road pitch, the club were unable to host a pre-season friendly at home ahead of last season - but that is something that won’t occur this summer.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We will work the players hard in the summer and make sure that we have successful pre-season and start to the season. It is something we haven’t had over the last few years and we need to change that.
“We didn’t have enough testing games in pre-season last season, so we will make sure we have that and the players are challenged.
“No disrespect to the local clubs but they weren’t really testing games for us. Out most testing game was probably the Chester friendly or the one we organised against Blackburn behind closed doors.
“We will have the players extremely fit and I will take charge of that with the sports scientist. We will push them hard and hopefully that will be the trigger for us to have a good start to the season.
He added: “We will put everything into it and we are confident of having a good season.”
