Steve: "Hard Work Ahead For Everyone."

8 May 2016

Steve gives us his post match reaction from our final game of the season.

He added: "We also need someone who can bang the ball in the back of the net, maybe two. That would make a massive difference to us. We need to get the right people in and the ones we have here know they are going to have to work hard in the summer because it has to turn around. We have lost 26 games this season and we will need to turn that around to win 26 if we want to be promoted, so there is a lot of work to do."

"The second one, we switched off for. Billy lost the ball and then George didn't clear it and Cole has had a simple tap in inside the six yard box. We have given away simple goals all season. That has been our Achilles heal too often and it has to change. Either that will be with the players we have here or from outside or a mixture of both.

"There wasn't that much in the game at the beginning. I thought they started better than us but we came into it and were improving when those two quick fire goals changed the game. I didn't think there was a lot in the game and Bobby Grant hit a shot that was a great strike but I thought Ben (Garratt) should have saved it. He should have positioned himself to tip it over the bar but it has gone inches over his head. Ben has had another good season but he knows he should have done better for that one.

"We had a lot of possession, especially in the second half, but we didn't create enough. We had a lot of control but didn't use that possession well enough.

"The first half was no where near good enough from us and I was disappointed with that because they did not work hard enough and didn't show enough. We were not dangerous enough and we didn't close people down enough either, like we did against Doncaster last week. We wanted to come here and make it difficult for them and try and upset the odds.

Alex boss Steve Davis gave us his post match reaction following a 2-0 defeat at Fleetwood on the final day of the League One season: "It was a disappointing end to the season from us and we didn't hold back afterwards. We let the players know how we feel about the season and we gave them ten barrels because some of the things they have done has not been good enough.
