Steve: "Encouraging News Over Zooms"

3 May 2016

Steve Davis still confident on extending Bakayogo's stay at the club.

Steve Davis says he has been encouraged by the news that Zoumana Bakayogo is keen to extend his stay with the club. Davis has held talks with the former Leicester City and Tranmere defender and the feedback has been encouraging.

Bakayogo, 29, has gone on record to say that he ‘wants his contract situation finalised before his holiday.’

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have made an offer to Zooms and he has gone away and discussed that with his representatives and his family. It is now down to him and I’m sure he will come back to us soon.

“I initially put a deadline on it of two weeks because we need to know where we are going because if he doesn’t want to stay then we have to move for another left footer. It is approaching that deadline now, so I would imagine we would have a decision, one way or another, this week.

“He has done really well for us and we want him to stay. He is a great athlete, good around the place and he has been passionate since he came in.

“I’m sure that if he does decide to say that he would be one determined to put things right next season.”
